Happy New Year!
Seeing as this is officially my first post of 2017, I thought I'd not only talk about my outfit, but reflect upon the rollercoaster year of 2016 and share what I've achieved. I can't believe how fast 2016 went, but upon reflection I definitely achieved more than I could have possibly imagined. From moving to London and starting my first job in September, to travelling the east coast of Australia and getting awarded a First Class Degree, 2016 has been a big year for me...
I turned 22 on New Year's Eve and have been enjoying the Christmas holidays with friends and family back in my hometown of Bristol. I've been living in these Topshop Boutique jeans and thoroughly recommend them as the perfect pair of quality vintage-denim-without-actually-being-vintage jeans. I picked up this bomber from Warehouse on Black Friday and whilst keeping me warm, it looks super stylish in a luxe midnight blue hue. I'm also sporting my new Céline Marta shades I received for Christmas - aren't they fab?! And as you can see from my boots, I'm still not over patent quite just yet (and don't plan on being anytime soon!)

After turning 21 in Marrakech over the new year, I spent the first part of the 2016 slaving away on my dissertation, followed by a well-deserved weekend trip to Berlin in February (watch my video here). I then attended London Fashion Week for the full five days (I'd only ever done one/two days before) and watched about 10 shows (I even sat on the frow for Barbara Casasola!)
After handing in my dissertation in May, I celebrated at Disneyland Paris with my Uni pals and when I got home I found out I'd been awarded a First Class Bachelors Degree from the University of Southampton = YAY! I graduated on a beautiful, sunny July summer's day and prepared to embark on a 6-week adventure exploring the east coast of Australia and Bali with my friend Emily. My new employers kindly let me take my job in September in London when I got back. I was very lucky to be able to go away knowing that I had a job to go back to when I got home. I decided to go straight to University when I finished school so I never had proper 'time off' so to speak; this mini gap year or 'gap summer' as I liked to call it was the perfect break before stepping into the world of work and beginning my career in the fashion industry.
After losing a dear family member back in February to the devastating Brexit and Trump, 2016 has certainly had it's ups and downs, but I'm very proud of what I've achieved this year and although I'm another year older, I'm indeed feeling 22 (yes, really) and look forward to what 2017 has in store! I hope you've all been able to see past the negatives and simply reflect on what you or a friend or family member may have achieved, no matter how big or small. 2017, you're going to be a good one.

Congrats on turning 22! 2016 certainly has been a difficult year; being American the Trump result devastated me. But like you said, 2016 had its good parts, too! Here's to an even better 2017! :)
ReplyDeleteLoving this look, by the way. I'm obsessed with raw hem jeans!
