So it's Saturday 3rd March 2018, I'm sat on my sofa under about 15 blankets waiting for the plumber to come and fix my boiler and wondering where the past few months have gone. Maybe they've gone particularly fast due to the fact I started a new job at the end of October and have been channeling my energy into a new role or perhaps the days start to slither away as you get older?!
I really wanted to write a short summary post of 2017 like last year's 2016 review here, but sadly never got around to it. Instead, I bring you my year in Instagram highlights (35 of them to be exact). Seeing as my life is pretty up to date over on Instagram, I thought it would be fun to pick out my highlights from 2017 from my feed (where you can be sure to keep an eye on what I'm up to!) and simply embed them into this post. Enjoy!
1. I started the year off to a good start by hitting the slopes in January with my family in Val d'Isere.
2. I was invited back to my University to do a careers talk at their annual Alumni Event.
3. Went to my fourth or fifth, or was it sixth? London Fashion Week.
4. I saved up for a Realisation Par dress.
5. I discovered Clifton Nurseries which definitely fed my love of plants.
6. I kind of got a little bit obsessed with interiors.
7. And more interiors.
8. And then Song of Style reposted my picture... I died and went to Instagram heaven.
9. I discovered the best view in all of London. The very top of the hill in Greenwich Park.
10. Enjoyed some downtime with my dogs as spring arrived in Somerset.
11. I did a shoot for Kurt Geiger with the wonderful Michaela.
12. I went on holiday to the Amalfi Coast.
13. And discovered Amalfi was the ultimate Instagrammer's paradise so I Instagrammed the hell out of it.
14. I did one of my favourite shoots with Rosie in Little Venice.
15. Spent a few long weekends in Devon.
16. I started collaborating with Sabo Skirt.
17. I did a cute new home shoot for the blog.
18. I started spending a lot of my free time in Notting Hill. Maybe I should take the hint and move there?
19. I moved flat and bought some furniture.
20. I went to Spain to visit my best friend.
21. And fell in love with Tarifa.
22. And Bolonia beach.
23. And now I just want my tan back.
24. I started working with New Look.
25. Went to my seventh London Fashion Week (SS18).
26. Enjoyed daytime cocktails with Georgia.
27. Went camping in the New Forest.
28. Did my first homeware collaboration with Nest.
29. Shot some more stuff for New Look and chopped off my hair.
30. The new flat started to feel more like home.
31. Spontaneously went to Paris for the weekend.
32. And pretended to be Parisian.
33. Really started to appreciate 'me time'.
34. Fell in love with Petersham Nurseries, Covent Garden.
35. Spent Christmas at home in Bristol and decided short hair was definitely for me.
So, you may be wondering... What on earth am I up to now?
I'm 23-years-old, reside in South West London and work in marketing; looking after content and campaigns for Covent Garden. Covent Garden has always been one of my favourite places to shop, eat and hang out in London and has always held a very special place in my heart; from watching the ballet when I was little at the Royal Opera House with my Grandma, to dining al fresco with friends in the summer months. There's so much to be excited about; with Tom Ford's first standalone beauty store and Petersham Nurseries opening late last year and The Shop at Bluebird and SUSHISAMBA opening this spring. I feel extremely lucky to have these wonderful places and brands on my doorstep and now I get to be part of it all. It's a very exciting place to be.
So what would you like to see more of on Maisie Ivy? I love writing travel diaries and guides so you can expect lots more of that. I've wanted to write guides to some of my favourite places in the UK such as London, Bristol and Bath and for quite some time now so hopefully I'll get around to writing these. Fashion will forever be a huge part of this blog, and whilst I can't get out and shoot everyday, I can still collate shopping and style edits while I shoot my favourite looks on the weekend.
What I do know for sure is that I love creating content. Writing, fashion, travel and photography are what make this blog my favourite past time. I can't promise a weekly or even monthly post, but what I can promise is that this blog is here to stay - it just needs to work a bit harder to fit around my career. I think I'll always be a 9-5 girl but with Maisie Ivy by my side.
And lastly, there's a chance to delve deeper into one of my favourite topics to read about; careers. I know that everyone loves a good career story so expect that from me very soon!
