At Home with Babylonstoren

Friday, 3 August 2018

Is there anything better than putting your feet up on the sofa after a long day and pouring yourself a chilled glass of rosé? Babylonstoren's Mourvedre Rosé has recently launched in the UK and it's a beautiful combination of raspberries, rose petals and strawberries. I'm hooked.

Whether it's catching up friends after work, a picnic in the park or accompanying an al fresco dinner in the garden, who doesn't enjoy a glass (or two!) of rosé? There's just something wonderful about discovering the perfect bottle, and Babylonstoren seems to have come up with the perfect solution.

Dating back to 1692, Babylonstoren is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms in South Africa. Boasting contemporary luxurious accommodation, two award-winning restaurants and a beautiful garden divided into 15 sections; comprising of fruit, vegetables, bees for pollinating, fragrant lawns, a prickly pear maze, ducks and chickens and more. With sustainable produce at the forefront of it's ethos, 300 varieties of the plants in Babylonstoren's garden are edible or have medicinal value, with everything from blood oranges to mushrooms supplying the farms two restaurants; Babel and the Greenhouse.

Produced on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain in South Africa, as well as pockets in the Franschhoek Valley in Western Cape, Babylonstoren's Mourdevre Rosé is an elegant dry wine of a pretty salmon pink colour, with hints of raspberries and rose petals tasted upon every sip. And don't get me started on the bottle; with its elegant minimal design, I'll be recycling it as a candle holder for my dining table in the evenings! It's also quick and easy to order, with free UK shipping at the moment.

Now, time to stock up for the rest of summer (and perhaps book my flight to South Africa!)
